PHNOM PENH—Times of India Travel has named Angkor Wat the most photogenic UNESCO World Heritage site in Asia.
“The temple site looks stunning at dawn,” the report stated. “The intricate carvings, vast moat, and awe-inspiring temple complex offer countless opportunities for stunning photos, especially during sunrise and sunset.”
India's Taj Mahal was awarded second place, followed by China's Great Wall, Myanmar's Bagan, Indonesia's Borobudur, Vietnam's Halong Bay, Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto of Japan, Jordan's Petra, the Rice Terraces of the Philippines Cordilleras, and India's Hampi.
In June, TripAdvisor also ranked the temple the 12th best tourist attraction in the world in the Traveler Choice Awards 2024.
Angkor Wat is one of the major temples in the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park in northwest Siem Reap province. The 401-square-kilometre park is home to 91 ancient temples built from the 9th to the 13th centuries.
