Cambodia Falls to Vietnam in Friendly

BINH DUONG – The Cambodian national football team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Vietnam in an international friendly match at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong province on Tuesday.
Vietnam took the lead in the 26th minute with a stunning free kick from Nguyen Hai Long. Just before half time, Nguyen Van Vi doubled the home side’s advantage to put Vietnam ahead 2-0.
In the second half, Cambodia responded with a goal from Bong Samuel in the 66th minute, marking a memorable debut for the young midfielder. Despite Cambodia’s late push while Vietnam managed to hold on to its lead.
According to FIFA’s latest world rankings, Cambodia sits at 180th, while Vietnam holds the 114th position.
This friendly served as Vietnam’s final preparation ahead of their AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers Third Round match against Laos on March 25.
Cambodia will take on Aruba in an international friendly at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh. Aruba, a Caribbean nation, is ranked 195th in the FIFA World Men’s Rankings.
