Cambodia, Laos Vow to Enhance Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

PHNOM PENH – Cambodia and Laos have pledged to further promote their comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership for interests of the two countries and peoples, Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a news release on Wednesday.
The commitment was made during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane, Laos, on Tuesday.
"They expressed satisfaction with the strong bonds of friendship and good cooperation between the two countries, which were elevated to a comprehensive and long-lasting strategic partnership in 2019," the news release said.
The two prime ministers agreed to further promote regular exchanges of visits at all levels between the two countries to boost cooperation in various areas.
On trade and tourism, the two sides discussed ways to increase bilateral trade to its full potential, especially by reactivating joint trade committee.
"They agreed to enhance border infrastructure connectivity to facilitate trade and encourage flows of tourists between the two countries," the news release said.
On energy cooperation, the two sides stressed the importance of energy security and electricity infrastructure, and they explored ways to expand green energy supplies to contribute to realizing the ASEAN Power Grid.
