Vietnam praises host’s preparations

PHNOM PENH–Vietnam, host of the SEA Games in May, has praised Cambodia’s preparations for the event next year.

A delegation led by Vath Chamroeun, secretary-general of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, returned on Sunday after a mission to Vietnam.

Chamroeun, who is also secretary-general of the 32nd SEA Games organizing committee in 2023, said Vietnam was most interested in the progress of Cambodia’s preparations.

“They commended Cambodia and noted that the Kingdom is well prepared and faster than Vietnam, which is still preparing because Vietnam is yet to complete some of the venues which are in the process of decoration and preparation,” he said.

However, due to their abundant resources and many experts, Vietnam is determined to be ready for the Games.

Both sides exchanged views and experiences about the stadiums. Cambodian delegates visited venues and stadiums for the opening and closing ceremonies.

They also visited stadiums in Hanoi and spoke to their managements about what they organized in each field.

Chamroeun was in Hanoi to attend the chiefs of mission meeting with his counterparts from other ASEAN countries to research and exchange views with the host and member countries.
