PHNOM PENH – The Singapore Embassy has launched an official microsite — a specialist website section — of the Cooperation Center in Cambodia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Singaporean Embassy in Cambodia officially opened the microsite during their first alumni reception on Mar. 20.

Singaporean Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng said Singapore has trained more than 11,700 Cambodian government officials under the Initiative of ASEAN Integration through the Cambodia-Singapore Cooperation Center (CSCC), formally known as the Cambodia-Singapore Training Center, since its establishment in 2002.

The microsite will allow the public to learn more about the center and of the operations and courses provided by Singapore for Cambodian officials.

"It will provide a repository of updated information for those interested in continuous learning and professional growth,” Lay Cheng said.

Ministry Secretary of State Kan Pharidh thanked Singapore for the cooperation provided for the officials through the short-term capacity-building program since 2002.

“The gathering was an opportunity to reconnect with the alumni who had received the training in the past and to take it to the next step for the future courses,” Pharidh said.

The secretary was optimistic that both countries will further develop and build capacity for more Cambodian officials in the near future.

Singapore has organized capacity-building courses for over 43,000 officials from Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, and Vietnam in each country and through online platforms amid the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 11,700 Cambodian officials have taken part.

The center building was officially opened in 2022, joined by Cambodia’s then Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan in Phnom Penh.
