Cambodia, Turkey Aim for $1 Billion in Trade

PHNOM PENH – Cambodia and Turkey are boosting trade with an aim of $1 billion in volume and Cambodia suggesting investments in agriculture, food processing, packaging and health sectors.   

The target was disclosed at the 4th Joint Economic Commission meeting on Nov. 4, co-chaired by Cambodian Commerce Minister Cham Nimul and Turkish Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Yumakli.

Both sides discussed the feasibility of strengthening trade and investment cooperation to boost trade to the target set by the leaders of both countries. 

Cham Nimul spoke of the complementarity of the economies and proposed working closely on trade and investment in agriculture, food processing, packaging, health tourism and medical equipment.

Both also reaffirmed a strong commitment to strengthening relations and deepening cooperation in all areas through activities agreed in the meeting, the Cambodian Commerce Ministry said. 

These include trade in goods and services, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, civil aviation, transport and infrastructure, education, investment, industry, science and technology, halal standards, water resources, tourism, health and labour, social security and vocational training.
