Cities and Districts Created in Three Provinces

PHNOM PENH — Prime Minister Hun Sen on Dec. 23 signed four sub-decrees establishing two cities in Kandal province, one district in Kratie province, and dividing a district into a city and a district in Kampong Speu province.   



In Kandal province, Sampov Puon city has been created out five communes that were part of Koh Thom district, the communes being Chhoeu Kmao, Prek Chrey, Prek Sdei, Chroy Takeo and Sampov Poun communes. The new city administration office will be located in Sampov Poun commune.



Arey Ksat city now consists of 11 communes. The six that were previously part of Khsach Kandal district are Bak Dav, Koh Oknha Tei, Prek Ampil, Prek Luong, Prek Takov communes and Svay Chrum communes. The five that were part of Lvea Em district are Akrei Khsat, Sarikakeo, Peam Oknha Ong, Prek Kmeng and Barong communes. Arey Ksat city’s administration office will be in Akrei Khsat commune.



In Kratie province, the Ou Krieng Senchey district will be formed out of five communes previously part Sambour district. They are Kbal Damrei, O’Krieng, O’Kandier Senchey, Roluos Mean Chey, and Sre Ches communes. The district’s administration will be located in O’Krieng commune.



In Kampong Speu province, the Oudong district was divided into two—Oudong Mae Chey city and Samaki Monychey district—with five and 10 communes respectively.



Oudong Mae Chey city now consists of Ksem Ksan, Preah Sre, Trach Tong, Veal Pong, Vaing Chas communes, with the administration located in Veal Pong commune.



And the Samaki Monychey district includes 10 communes namely Chan Sen, Choeung Ras, Champou Proek, Damnak Raing, Kraing Chek, Mean Chey, Peam Lvea, Phnom Touch, Prey Krasiang and Yuth Samakki. The district administration will be in Choeung Ras commune.
