PHNOM PENH – Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz has landed in Cambodia for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

During his stay until Oct. 6, the Cuban PM will have an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni, meet Prime Minister Hun Sen and pay courtesy calls on Senate President Say Chhum and President of National Assembly Heng Samrin.

The visit will expand on cooperation in terms of education, culture and sports as well as in other fields through the signing of agreements.

After attending the 77th United Nations General Assembly, Hun Sen paid an official visit to Cuba during which he met President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and President of the National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández.

Memorandums of understanding on health, education and foreign relations were signed during his visit. Hun Sen did not meet Marrero in Cuba.

Cambodia is the last stop of the Cuban prime minister’s tour in Southeast Asia which has taken him to Vietnam and Laos. All are considered close allies.

Cambodia and Cuba established diplomatic ties in 1960 and relations have been well-maintained ever since.
