Daily COVID Cases Reach a Record High

Biggest number found in Phnom Penh

 PHNOM PENH--Cambodia has recorded its biggest daily number of COVID-19 cases. The Health Ministry said on April 9 that the 576 new cases were linked to the Feb. 20 community outbreak. 

The biggest rise in cases was again in Phnom Penh, where another 544 people were affected.  

Svay Rieng province reported 16 new cases, while 12 new cases were found in Preah Sihanouk province and two were found in Siem Reap. 

Kampong Cham and Kandal provinces reported one new case each.

These latest cases bring the number linked to the Feb. 20 community outbreak to 3,072.

In the meantime, 70 patients linked to the community outbreak have recovered, the ministry said.

The total number of cases recorded in Cambodia now stands at 3,604, of whom 1,984 people have recovered, leaving 1591 active cases. The death toll has reached 24.
