SIEM REAP – Understanding digital marketing for new products was discussed by female entrepreneurs in Siem Reap province on Dec. 22.

Around 50 female entrepreneurs gathered at a roundtable on strengthening the local market and promoting Cambodian products in the digital age.

The aim was to discuss problems faced by many business owners, especially those running new businesses.

Heng Chariya, vice president of the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), based in Siem Reap province, said the market was evolving rapidly, especially in the digital era.

Female entrepreneurs had faced problems marketing new products. Entrepreneurs must be flexible in accordance with the period to ensure that their products can be delivered to the target customers.

Chea Sopheap, sales manager at the Angkor Fitness Gym, was one of the speakers at the roundtable. Sopheap said business success required skilled teamwork for digital marketing. Business owners must understand social media clearly.

Business owners should not overlook important elements such as good content, interesting titles, quality pictures and videos, and skilled presenters. These factors must be taken into consideration before posting about business.

He advised new business owners to study these factors and find a skilled digital team if the owners are not good at it.

Provincial Department of Commerce business development officer Duong Viriya said the department had significantly helped small and medium enterprises through workshops and exhibitions to promote Cambodian products.

Viriya said the Ministry of Commerce has a website called Cambodiatrade — an e-commerce marketplace operated by the ministry — that allows entrepreneurs to sell their products in the website which makes it easier for payment and is free of charge.

“We are further boosting the use of this website, and the ministry is also looking for more partners in payment to popularize the platform and make it convenient,” Viriya added.
