Finless Dolphin Found Dead in Kampot

PHNOM PENH – A rare Indo-Pacific finless porpoise was found dead in Trapaing Ropov Fishing Community in Kampot province. 

Sadesh, deputy director of the Tuek Chhou district community, said the 1.3m female teenage dolphin died on June 9.

She could not give a cause of death but said a fishing net was wrapped around its body. 

Marine Conservation Cambodia technical staff said it was the first time a dolphin species other than Irrawaddy dolphins and dolphins had been found in Kampot sea territory.
