PHNOM PENH--Around 40 stalls were destroyed by a fire at Psar Nat—the Central Market in Battambang Province—with no injuries reported, according to the Fire and Rescue Police Department report on Aug. 31.
Reports show that the fire broke out around 5.30 p.m. on Aug. 30, destroyed some 40 market stalls and was completely extinguished by 7.30 p.m. the same day.
“The case is undergoing investigation,” the Fire and Rescue Police Department said in a statement, with no cause of the fire publicly known at this time.
Psar Nat was built in the 1930s when Cambodia was still a French colony and is considered a valuable heritage building in Battambang Province.
