Football Matches to Mark Cambodia-Thailand Links

PHNOM PENH – The Khmer Boxing Federation will organize friendly football matches between martial arts fighters and between celebrities from Cambodia and Thailand​ on March 8 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the countries. 

The event will be held at the National Olympic Stadium from 2pm, and be presided over by Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa.

The event will include two matches: Kun Khmer All Star and Muay Thai All Star, followed by Cambodian celebrities’ football team and Thai celebrities’ football team. 

Free tickets can be had at the National Olympic Stadium and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Stadium (Old Stadium) until March 7. 

Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun chaired a meeting on March 6 to review preparations, including security matters.

To maintain public order and ensure safety, local authorities will regulate traffic around the stadium from 1pm.

Cambodia forged diplomatic relation with Thailand in 1950. The relationship was elevated to strategic partnership in 2024.
