PHNOM PENH – Tiv Dararith has completed 6,000km of his cycle journey to raise money for the Angkor Hospital for Children and Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals.
Dararith, 35, aims to cycle 25,000km from Cambodia to Europe. He started on June 6 at the Angkor Hospital for Children.
He is the first person to embark on a cycling journey from Cambodia to Europe to raise funds for children’s hospitals. Dararith is now in Nepal, waiting for a visa to enter India.
This is his second cross-country cycling endeavor to raise funds and he aims to cover 25 countries within a year.
“I find Nepalis are kind and welcoming to adventurous cyclists, although the challenging road conditions make cycling difficult,” he said.
“Nepal was not originally part of my planned route. However, due to the unstable political situation in Dhaka, Bangladesh, I opted to go to Nepal. I am hopeful to obtain a visa for India soon.”
In 2023, he cycled 9,750km across Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Singapore over three months, raising $56,257 for Angkor Hospital for Children.
