Grenade Detonated near Parliament Building

PHNOM PENH – A hand grenade found near the National Assembly building was detonated on Dec. 15, Phnom Penh’s police chief said.



The grenade was put in a cake and placed along National Assembly Street between the parliament building and NagaWorld in Chamkarmon district. It was found by garbage collector.



Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissioner Sar Thet said the grenade had not yet exploded and was detonated at the site by specialized forces from the Cambodian Mine Action Center.



He said law enforcement forces were searching for the person who planted the grenade.
