High Rise Tally Changes City Skylines

PHNOM PENH – Cambodia constructed nearly 2,500 buildings of five or more storys from 2018 to 2022, with many in Sihanoukville province, a report says.



The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction released the five-year summary of achievements report on Dec. 27.



It said that by the end of September and counting from the start to the finish of projects, there were 2,492 buildings with at least five floors, of which 682 were in Sihanoukville.



The report divides these projects into buildings of five to 9 floors, 10 to 19 floors, 20-29, 30-39, and from 40 floors up but does not say where they are.



As of the first nine months of 2022, there were 91 projects of five and above floors. Of these, 69 were from five to 9 floors, 19 from 10 to 19 floors, and three from 20 to 29 floors.



Cambodia constructed 1,393 buildings from five to 9 floors, 699 from 10 to 19 floors, 230 from 20 to 29 floors, 125 from 30 to 39 floors and 50 of 40 or more floors.
