PHNOM PENH – Mondulkiri province is hosting events featuring indigenous cuisines, including Samlor Prong, bamboo-tube dishes known as the indigenous Bunong people's traditional soup, to celebrate the annual Water Festival.

Set to take place at 3 p.m. on November 4 at Domrey Dek Park, the exhibition aims to promote the traditional cuisine of the province's indigenous peoples and boost tourism during the green season.

Samlor Prong is cooked differently from other dishes by adding ingredients, either fish or meat, along with vegetables, into a bamboo tube and standing it vertically over a fire, rather than using a pot.

The provincial administration hopes the public will visit the event, which will feature cooking demonstrations and tastings of indigenous dishes.

To welcome both domestic and international tourists during the three-day Water Festival from November 4 to 6, preparations include decorations, colorful lighting, concerts, exhibitions, floating lanterns and nighttime fireworks displays.

Located in the northeastern part of the country, Mondulkiri is well known for its lush environment filled with waterfalls, rolling hills, forests and cool weather.

Beyond its numerous natural resorts, other popular tourism sites in the province include Bousra Waterfall, Phnom Doh Kromom, and Sen Monorom town.
