[Phnom Penh, January 10, 2025] – ISI Special Economic Zone, a new landmark development spanning over 800 hectares in Sihanoukville spearheaded by Cambodia’s esteemed ISI GROUP in collaboration with capital partners, is officially unveiled today during a grand launch ceremony at the ISI TOWER — ISI GROUP’s headquarters in Phnom Penh.
This event marks a major milestone with the commencement of the new economic zone’s operations. Over 200 distinguished guests attended the grand launch, including prominent figures from the Cambodian government such as His Excellency Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, H.E. Prof. Bundit Sapheacha Dr. Sok Siphana, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions Multilateral Trade and Economic Affairs and Chairman of Trade Policy Advisory Board (TPAB), H.E. Professor Dr. Chhem Kieth Rethy, Senior Minister and Chairman of Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), His Excellency Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for Development of Cambodia, and Mr. Kang Leng, Chairman of ISI GROUP and other board members as well as national and international business communities.
The ISI Special Economic Zone (ISI SEZ) is the first special economic zone located along the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway and within a 30-minute radius of deep-seaports and an international airport, with Phnom Penh Capital just 1.5 hours away. This strategic location ensures seamless connectivity and efficient logistics for export-oriented enterprises, making ISI SEZ an ideal gateway to regional and global markets.
The opening ceremony featured a speech from H.E. Say Samal, congratulating and expressing his appreciation for the joint efforts in building a contemporary Cambodia, and the development of this project is an important part of this great achievement. H.E. Say Samal showed his commitment to continue his support for all development initiatives, especially in Sihanoukville, believing that Sihanoukville plays an important role in the national economy. H.E. Say Samal also stated, “I hope that this special economic zone will be able to produce finished products for export.” He expected the economic zone to be able to create a production chain from end-to-end and to be exported directly, as these factors indicate the development of the whole nation.
Mr. Kang Leng remarked during his address, “Following the success of ISI PARK Veng Sreng and ISI PARK National Road 2, ISI GROUP has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Cambodia's industrial landscape with the development of ISI SEZ. Leveraging this momentum, ISI SEZ seeks to build on these achievements by incorporating advanced infrastructure and collaboration practices. Our goal is to continue innovating and leading in this sector, creating a vibrant ecosystem where businesses can thrive, and communities can flourish."
H.E. Chea Vuthy also expressed his endorsement of the new project by showing his positive outlook on the ISI SEZ to contribute to the Royal Government for the development of Sihanoukville and the Cambodian economy. He stressed the importance of Sihanoukville as a national economic pole full of potential, and the Royal Government has always considered the private sector as the engine of national economic growth to enhance Cambodia's competitiveness. With strong support from the Council for Development of Cambodia, ISI GROUP is confident in pushing the project forward. This support not only establishes a necessary regulatory framework for new collaborations but also creates an environment that attracts both local and foreign investments.
ISI SEZ is a groundbreaking development covering over 800 hectares. In its first phase, more than 200 hectares are being developed, making ISI SEZ more than just an industrial zone. It is uniquely positioned with its scenic natural waterfront, and ISI GROUP has devoted substantial resources to this project, engaging an Australian design institute for comprehensive planning to create a livable industrial-ecological park. Its fully integrated ecosystem design supports both industries and local communities with key features such as a one-stop service center, worker dormitories, a water purification plant, a sewage treatment facility, a power substation, and a vocational training school.
During the grand launch ceremony, ISI SEZ attracts international investors who have expressed keen interest in Southeast Asia’s market, as they toured the ISI GROUP’s headquarters and surrounding areas to gain deeper insights into Cambodia’s investment potential and the advantages offered by ISI SEZ.
With over 25 years of expertise, ISI GROUP has established itself as a trusted leader in industrial park development. ISI PARK Veng Sreng, a fully developed and thriving community in Phnom Penh, is now home to over 100 enterprises, generating $1 billion in transactions and creating 10,000 jobs. ISI PARK National Road 2, located just a 15-minute drive from Techo International Airport, offers excellent connectivity to important national ring roads. Building on the success of these two industrial parks, ISI GROUP is poised to expand ISI SEZ by implementing cutting-edge infrastructure and services that meet international standards.
ISI GROUP is committed to building an innovative economic zone that balances industrial development with sustainable community, attracting further investment and propelling local economic growth. The grand launch of ISI SEZ represents a cornerstone in ISI GROUP’s efforts toward Cambodia’s future development.
