Lao President to Attend SEA Games Ceremony

PHNOM PENH – Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith will attend the opening ceremony of the SEA Games during a state visit to Cambodia from May 4 to 6.



The visit comes at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said.



This is Thongloun’s first visit to Cambodia after becoming president in 2021.



He will call on the King at the Royal Palace after attending the welcoming ceremony. He will meet top officials including Senate President Say Chhum and President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin.



During his stay, the Lao leader will hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen on further cooperation along with regional and international issues of common interest, the ministry said.



Thongloun will attend the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games on May 5 at Morodok Techo National Stadium. The biennial Games will run through May 17.



The ministry said the visit will consolidate the excellent relations, good neighborliness, fraternal ties and the Comprehensive and Long-lasting Strategic Partnership for the benefit of the two peoples.
