GAZA -- Hundreds of thousands of Gazans continue to endure long waits each day for limited food aid. More than 10 months after the Israeli-Palestinian conflict began on October 7, 2023, food remains increasingly scarce in the Gaza Strip, leaving Palestinians heavily dependent on aid.
The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that 96 percent of Gaza's population is now experiencing acute food insecurity, with 2.15 million people facing "Crisis" levels of hunger or worse. Nearly half a million are in "Catastrophic" conditions.
The WFP also notes that ongoing hostilities, damaged roads, and a breakdown in public order are severely disrupting food transport operations, resulting in reduced rations.
