Nearly 140,000 candidates Sit for Annual Bac II Exam

PHNOM PENH – The Grade 12 exit exam has started across the country with137,412 students taking part.



Of these, 73,278 are female. Students in the science track total 41,379 while students in the social track account for 96,033.



Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron symbolically opened an exam paper at Preah Sisowath High School in Phnom Penh.



He said the exam is an evaluation of the results of 12 years of study. He encouraged students to study hard as it is the path to higher education.



Several state institutions participated in the exam process. These included the Interior, Health and Defense ministries, the Anti Corruption Unit, Electricity Du Camboge and Union of Youth Federation Cambodia to maintain security, safety and public order in the examination centers and ensure safety for the examiners, stakeholders and students.



Education Ministry spokesperson Khuon Vicheka said that nearly 2,000 students were absent on the first day.   



There are 227 exam centers nationwide. Results will be released on Nov. 28 in Phnom Penh and Kandal province. Other provinces will get the results on Nov. 29.
