Ouk Chaktrang Wraps up With 6 medals

PHNOM PENH  – After 10 days of Khmer chess-Ouk Chaktrang, Cambodian players have gained six medals in seven disciplines at the SEA Games.



The country claimed one gold, four silver and one bronze. Vietnam got the most medals with two gold, one silver and seven bronze.



Thailand got the most gold medals with four plus one bronze. The Philippines got two silver and one bronze.



Myanmar won two bronze medals while Laos and Malaysia got none.



In the 5-minute single men, Cambodian Sok Limheng won the gold, defeating Vietnam, while Cambodian Nou Chanphanit won the bronze.



In the men’s 60-minute quadruples, the Cambodian team, Chhoy Vira, Chea Sideth, Bin Kear Seng and Meng Sereisambath, got silver with 2.5 points, losing to the Thai team who got four.



In 60-minute triples men, Cambodia won a silver medal, losing to Thailand. The Cambodian team, Chheav Bora, Chea Sideth, and Sok Limheng, got four of the total team points while Thailand’s team got five.



In 60-minute single men, Cambodian chess player Sam Kakada won the silver medal after losing to Thai Boon sueb Sae Heng.



Both opponents had drawn two matches. Going into the third match, Sam Kakada lost to Thai player, using all the time before  his opponent took the gold.



In the 60-minute double men, Cambodian players Bou Bunmalika and Yan Sok Leang won silver after losing to Thailand.



The game was the first to begin on April 29 and ended on May 9.
