Team goes forward to Asian Cup China 2023
PHNOM PENH--Prime Minister Hun Sen has praised Keisuke Honda for leading the Cambodian national football team, which beat Guam 2-1 in the second leg of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 qualifiers playoff.
"I would like to commend Mr. Honda for leading the Cambodian national team to this success," he said.
The Prime Minister also donated $100,000 to the national team as an incentive.
Cambodia beat Guam 1-0 in the first leg on October 10 at Khalifa Sport City, Bahrain, and has advanced to the third round of the tournament.
Honda has been the general manager and coach of the Cambodia national team since 2018.
