Rubber Exports Earn Over $116 Million in Three Months

PHNOM PENH – As many as 59,754 tonnes of rubber and 5,275 cubic meters of rubberwood have been exported in the first three months, generating more than $116 million.

From January to March, rubber production of 64,080 tonnes were down 7.9 percent, while exports worth $114.9 million decreased by 13.8 percent compared to the same period last year, according to a General Directorate of Rubber report.

In March, around 4,755 tonnes of rubber were produced, a decline of 73.6 percent compared to February and down 56.2 percent on March 2024.

The rubber price was $1,900 per tonne, down $8 on the February price but up $370 compared to March last year.

Meanwhile, the three-month export of rubberwood generated $1.32 million. In March, around 4,333 cubic meters of rubberwood were produced, with an average price of $233 per cubic meter.

To date, rubber plantations cover 425,443 hectares with harvesting areas of 330,259 hectares, or 78 percent, while more than 95,000 hectares are under care.

As many as 223,122 hectares are dedicated to agro-industrial rubber plantations, while 202,321 hectares are cultivated on a family scale.

In 2024, the country produced $407,000 tonnes of rubber and exported around 338,000 tonnes, generating more than $658 million.
