Siem Reap Province Is Now Welcoming Thousands of Tourists Every Day

PHNOM PENH – Around 15 or 16 international flights are now landing at Siem Reap International Airport every day, bringing in tourists eager to visit the famed Angkor Archeological Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.



Since Cambodia has reopened its doors to international tourists due to the COVID-19 pandemic being under control, Siem Reap Province has seen an increase in the number of international tourists, with 1,300 to 1,400 visitors arriving daily on 15 to 16 flights, said Ngov Sengkak, director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism.



Moreover, about 600 to 700 tourists come by road to Siem Reap City every day, he said.



During the first 10 months of 2022, Siem Reap province received a total of 1,792,549 visitors, which represented an increase of 886.34 percent compared to the same period in 2021.



Among them, there were 1,623,200 domestic tourists, which was an increase of 830.45 percent compared to the same period in 2021; and there were 169,349 international tourists, that is, a jump of 2,224.3 percent compared to 2021.



According to the Ministry of Tourism, in the first 10 months of 2022, Cambodia received more than 1.57 million international tourists, which was an increase of 991 percent compared to the same period in 2021.



More than 10.86 million domestic tourists toured the country in the first 10 months of 2022, that is, an increase of 234 percent over the same period in 2021.
