Som Piseth Is Named Governor of Kep Province

PHNOM PENH--King Norodom Sihamoni has appointed Som Piseth as governor of the eastern coastal province of Kep, according to a royal decree. 



“Appointed His Excellency Som Piseth as governor of Kep province,” the royal decree dated May 27 stated, indicating that Prime Minister Hun Sen had requested the appointment.



Piseth who currently is a provincial vice governor will replace Ken Satha who has been transferred to position at the Council of Ministers, the royal decree stated.



The ceremony for the governorship position transfer is to be held on May 29 and presided by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng, according to an invitation letter written by Oeng Vuthy, head of the Kep provincial administration. 



In another royal decree, King Sihamoni appointed Satha as secretary of state of the Council of Ministers at Hun Sen’s request. Satha had been at the helm of Kep Province since 2012. 



Also in Kep Province, Brigadier General Sambath Sothearath has been named police commissioner, replacing his former boss Brigadier General Pen Dara. 



Sothearath’s appointment was stated in a sub-decree signed by Interior Minister Sar Kheng on May 25. Sothearath was previously deputy commissioner in charge of the immigration section. 



Dara has been appointed deputy head of the Central Department of the Border Police, according to a Fresh News’ report published on Thursday (May 28).
