Svay Rieng FC Advances to AFC Semi-Finals

PHNOM PENH – Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the AFC Challenge League, where they will face Indonesia’s Madura United in the third tier of Asian club football.

Svay Rieng won the first leg against Myanmar’s Shan United 6-2 but lost the second leg 2-1 on March 13.

Shan United made an explosive start in the second leg at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, taking the lead in the first minute through midfielder Khun Kyaw Zin Hein. 

Ye Yint Aung doubled their advantage in the 26th minute, putting the hosts in control.

However, Svay Rieng responded in the second half when Brazilian forward Matheus Moresche converted a penalty in the 56th minute, pulling one goal back. While the match ended in defeat, the Cambodian side secured their place in the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Al-Arabi SC (Kuwait) will face FK Arkadag (Turkmenistan). Semi-finalists will play home and away games, with the first legs on April 9 and 10 and the second legs on the 16th and 17th.
