Two Cambodians Returning from Japan Test Positive for COVID-19

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the two men have been sent to Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital for treatment while their fellow passengers have been placed in quarantine.
PHNOM PENH--The Ministry of Health on Wednesday (Oct. 28) announced that two Cambodian men returning from Japan have both tested positive for COVID-19.
One man, 34, is a resident of Kandal Province, while the other is a 23-year-old man from Pursat Province—both returned to Cambodia on Oct. 26 having flown from Japan via South Korea.
Both men were tested upon arrival and COVID-19 was detected. As such they were sent to Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital for immediate treatment, the Health Ministry confirmed.
There were 37 other passengers aboard the flight that brought the two men back to Cambodia and while all 37 have so far tested negative for the virus, they are currently undergoing a 14-day quarantine period in Phnom Penh.
These latest cases bring Cambodia’s total number of confirmed cases up to 290, although only seven patients are still receiving treatment as the rest have all recovered.
