PHNOM PENH — U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia W. Patrick Murphy said on May 13 that he was excited to see the country hosting an event such as the Southeast Asian Games for the first time.



Invited to attend the Taekwondo WT competition on May 13, he had been eager to accept to show his support for the athletes.



During an interview on May 13, the ambassador mentioned that some Cambodian-American athletes were also representing Cambodia in the games. One of them is Taekwondo fighter Casandre Nicole Tubbs who was to compete on May 14. Murray said he hoped she would win a gold medal for the country.



He added that he was happy to attend the competitions in person and see the Cambodian as well as the Cambodian-American athletes represent Cambodia in the games.
