PHNOM PENH — South African golfer Darren Fichardt has won his place as the champion of the Vattanac Legends Championship Legacy Edition 2025, after two weeks of tournaments, winning $88,920 presented by the Vattanac Group.

Over those days, people in the audience have witnessed remarkable golf as the legends of the game once again demonstrated their mastery, their passion, and their enduring love for the game.

At the Vattanac Golf Resort, the golf athletes brought inspiration to the young Cambodian golfers, joy to the spectators, and unforgettable moments to everyone in attendance.

Sam Ang Vattanac, director of the Vattanac Golf Resort, described the performance as inspiring as he expressed his warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to the champion.

“You have demonstrated not only world-class skills, but also the determination, humility, and sportsmanship that define a true champion,” Vattanac said. “Your victory here in Cambodia will be remembered with pride. You have earned your place in the history of this event.”

Thanking the Vattanac family, the director also extended his gratitude to the Cambodian government whose leadership and vision have encouraged and cared for investors with dedication to peace, stability and national development, which has created the environment that enables international sporting events to grow and flourish in Cambodia.

Sam Ang Vattanac conveyed his appreciation to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the Ministry of Tourism, the Cambodian Golf Federation, and the authorities of Phnom Penh and Kandal province for their cooperation and facilitation for delivering a world-class golf event.

“For the first time in the history of the Legends Tour, the tournament has remained in the same city for a second consecutive week,” Vattanac said. “This unprecedented back-to-back format reflects a deep level of trust and confidence.

“This shows the belief that the Legends Tour has in Cambodia, in the hospitality of our people, in the beauty of our East and West golf courses, and in the professionalism of the Vattanac Group,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the Vattanac Group and Vattanac Golf Resort, Sam Ang Vattanac reaffirmed his commitment to raising the standard even higher in the future. “We hope to welcome all our legends back next year,” he said. “Together, we will continue to build new memories, set new standards, and write new chapters in the history of golf in Cambodia.”
