PHNOM PENH —The pilot phase of Phnom Penh Walking Street has officially begun, enabling both locals and tourists to stroll around freely and joyfully without facing traffic congestion.

Siobhan Hussey, a visitor from Ireland, was surprised to see the newly launched walking street.

“We were just saying that this city is better than others we’ve visited,” said Siobhan as she arrived in Phnom Penh after spending five days in Siem Reap province.

Siobhan was struck by the city's inviting atmosphere and bright, clean surroundings, which quickly captured her attention.

On his third visit to Cambodia, Gabriel Dietrich, a traveler from Switzerland, was captivated by the transformation of Sisowath Quay. He remembers the heavy traffic in that area during his earlier visits.

“The walking street looks beautiful—there’s so much more space, and many people are out walking,” Gabriel said.

More than just a pedestrian street, he found it fascinating to see people engaging in activities such as skiing, riding scooters, and biking.

During the pilot phase, the walking street will operate on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 PM to 11 PM, extending from the Post Office to the Royal Palace.
