The king, top lawmakers and the prime minister attend an Independence Day ceremony during the second day of the annual Water Festival in Phnom Penh on Monday. The three-day event in front of the Royal Palace on the Tonle Sap River involves hundreds of boats and thousands of rowers. The festival commemorates the Khmer defeat over invading Cham forces during the Angkor era.
