Cambodia and Maldives to Sign MoU on Tourism

PHNOM PENH – A Memorandum of Understanding to boost tourism was due to be exchanged on Jan. 16 by  Cambodia’s and Maldives’ tourism ministers.



Thong Rathsak, director-general of Tourism Development and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism held discussions with Ahmed Salih, Maldives’ Deputy Minister of Tourism. 



The discussion aimed to arrange a working mechanism to boost tourism cooperation. Rathsak was a member of a delegation to the Maldives led by PM Hun Sen,



Further information about the agreement has yet to be released,  ministry spokesperson Top Sopheak said.



For now, both sides see a big opportunity to boost the flow of tourists after the first official visit by the Prime Minister to the Maldives.



The Jan. 15 to 17 visit is at the invitation of Maldives’ President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.



It will give both countries a chance to review their entire range of cooperation, including exploring new avenues on trade, investment, connectivity, health, culture, agriculture, and human resources development.
