Digital Forum to Showcase Digital Information

PHNOM PENH — The Digital Government Forum will be held on March 11 through 13 in Phnom Penh on the theme of “Sustainable and Inclusive Development through the Implementation of Digital Policy.”



The event’s goal will be to showcase the digital-government building achievements and to accelerate digital transformation and the utilization of new technologies, according to information released by the Cambodian government at a press conference on Feb. 16.    



During the forum, national and international panelists will be addressing policy aspects and trends in the development of digital technologies.



On the sidelines of the forum, an exhibition on Cambodia-International Digital Government and Digital Technology will be held at the Koh Pich Exhibition and Convention Center in Phnom Penh. Prime Minister Hun Manet is expected to attend the event.



According to Sok Puthyvuth, secretary of state of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, this exhibition will not only present the digital-government building achievements but also the benefits of using technology.



“The exhibition will also showcase the provision of public services by using digital technology nurseries, which are developed by the ministry, institutions, telephone and internet services, postal services, fintech and digital startups, and so on,” Puthyvuth said during the press conference.



“This forum will also help to promote cooperation among government agencies through the excellence of the digital revolution,” he said. “Most notably, it helps to identify challenges in implementing digital solutions, promote services for people, and promote policies in digital infrastructure, cyber security, and data privacy in the public sector.



“The forum aims to explore emerging technologies, encourage innovation and facilitate networking among stakeholders in order to boost efficiency in operation as well as mobilizing local and international stakeholders to support the development of the economy and digital society,” Puthyvuth said.



The Digital Government Forum 2024 will also include the ASEAN Digital Dialogue during which will be shared the policies and practices of the digital government revolution, he said.



In addition, there will be an overview of policies related to the digital revolution in Cambodia, the building of the foundation and confidence in the digital government, the promotion of an inclusive digital revolution, and discussions on opportunities for original content creation on social media.



About 100 technology experts are expected to attend and share their knowledge and experience during this 4th annual forum. In addition, participants from the ASEAN region, experts from China, India, Japan and South Korea will take part in the forum.



“The forum will be open to the public and the public will get the chance to try out the latest technology and access to digital technology services from well-known national and international technology companies,” Puthyvuth said.
