Fish are an important part of the daily diet in Cambodia. Most Cambodians get their protein from fish, primarily from the Mekong River Basin.

But in recent years, fish in the Mekong River Basin have been severely impacted, slowing their population growth alarmingly. The flow of water through the annual flood pulse cycle, which is an important environmental condition for the fish spawning season, has greatly declined. The use of modern, highly effective fishing gear has also made it easy to kill many fish at once. Such equipment that uses electricity is catastrophic to fish populations, and is illegal.

In the future, if fishermen continue to use this type of illegal equipment, Mekong River fish will disappear. Let's join together – please share this cartoon to prevent the use of illegal electrofishing gear for the sake of the next generation.
