PHNOM PENH – The Grade 12 baccalaureate examination will take place on Nov. 6 and 7, with a total of 137,412 candidates, of whom 73,278 are female.

Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, said there are 18 candidates with disabilities, of whom six are female.

There will be 227 examination centers with a total of 5543 rooms. Of these, 72 will be for science classes and 155 for social science classes.

Science subjects include biology, chemistry, English, Khmer literature, physics, mathematics and one elective subject.

Social science students must take seven subjects, which include history, geography, English, Khmer literature, mathematics, morality and civil society, and one elective subject.

Soeung Phirun, a student who got an A grade in the 2021-2022 academic year, shared four tips for students to prepare for the exam — taking care of their health, not putting pressure on themselves, being prepared, and reviewing lessons.

Phirun said health is the major factor. He advised candidates to get enough sleep, eat enough food and stay hydrated.

In addition, putting pressure could bring negativity to themselves. He encouraged students to try their best and put effort into the examination regardless of the results.

Students should also seek more motivation from friends and seniors who post academic content on social media, especially consulting and seeking motivation from their parents.

The third tip is to be prepared for the examination. Students should prepare important materials before the exam including pens, rulers and ID cards. He said not to bring correction pens, calculators or electronic watches to the examination room.

Phirun said students should review previous examination questions and exercises, especially from 2014 to 2022.

“For mathematics, chemistry, and physics, students should review the formulas. For Khmer literature, I think it would be great if students can add some examples from facts and Khmer literature stories,” he said, adding that English is also an important subject.

Marking will take place from Nov. 11 to 15, and verification from Nov. 16 to 26. Results will be announced on Nov.28 in Phnom Penh and Kandal province while in other provinces they will be announced on Nov. 29 at examination centers.
