More than 30 Artists Gather for a Cambodian Christmas Concert

PHNOM PENH — More than 30 artists joined together in Phnom Penh on Dec.1 to hold “Noel, A Cambodian Christmas Concert” to welcome the upcoming Christmas time.

Led by Conductor Ross Clark, the 2-hour concert held at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center was presented by the Phnom Penh Music Association and supported by the British Embassy and the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore.

According to the Singapore embassy press release on Dec. 2, the concert included Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and all-time favorites such as Jingle Bell Rock, Deck the Halls, and Silent Night.

There were performances by the SEA Brass Ensemble, the Phnom Penh Chorus, the Northbridge School Choir, as well as singers Shaun Lee, Martin Ng and Sylvie Lin, and pianists Angie Ang and April Wang.

“Christmas transcends borders and reminds us of our shared humanity,” Singaporean Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng said, according to the press release. “It is a time when friends and families come together to celebrate the universal language of love, joy, hope, generosity, and togetherness, whether by marveling at stunning light displays, enjoying festive feasts or giving gifts.

“The Embassy is delighted to support the concert, performed by an incredibly talented international cast,” she said. “We believe in the power of the arts to bring people together. The diverse repertoire has captivated hearts and transported the audience on a magical journey of the holiday season.”
