Prime Minister Hun Sen Allows the Reopening of Casinos in Cambodia

Their activity will be limited to gambling and slot machines in order to curb COVID-19

PHNOM PENH--Prime Minister Hun Sen has authorized casinos to reopen in the country.

Following the cabinet meeting on July 3, government spokesman Phay Siphan posted on his official Facebook page that all casinos will be allowed to resume operations. However, they will have to restrict their activities to gambling and slot machines.

Siphan pointed out that all casinos will have to follow the Ministry of Health's directives to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The government announced the temporary closure of the casinos last March in response to the pandemic
