The Cambodian Health Authorities Report One New Case of COVID-19

While 32 patients have recovered from the disease

PHNOM PENH--Cambodia reported one new Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) case on Sunday (Aug. 2).

This involves a 57-year-old Cambodian man who arrived in the country from the United States on a flight via South Korea, Health Ministry spokesperson Or Vandine said in a statement.

The Cambodian man arrived on July 31 on a plane carrying 111 other passengers who have been placed under 14-day mandatory quarantine, she said.

In the meantime, Vandine said, “32 [Covid-19] patients have made a complete recovery. Among them are 29 Cambodians and 3 Indonesians.”

As of Aug. 2, there have been 240 officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country: 196 patients have recovered while 44 remain hospitalized.

According to the Johns Hopkins University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering, over 17.7 million cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed throughout the world as of Aug.1 with the death toll standing at 684,111.
