A Third of Provinces Get New Governors

PHNOM PENH – A third of provinces have new governors in a sub-national administration reshuffle by the government.



King Norodom Sihamoni issued decrees on June 24 replacing eight governors and promoted deputies.



Kampong Speu governor Vei Samnang was appointed as Takeo governor, replacing Ouch Phea. Kampong Speu’s new governor is Cheam Chansorphorn, former Tboung Khmum governor.



Sar Soputra, one of Samnang’s deputies, is new Stung Treng governor, replacing Svay Sam Eang. 



Pen Kosal, Oddar Meanchey’s governor will replace Chansorphorn at Tboung Khmum. 



Two Phnom Penh deputy governors are heading to provinces. Nuon Pharat is new Kampong Thom governor, replacing Nguon Rathanak while Mean Chanyada replaced Kosal for Oddar Meanchey’s post.



Preah Sihanouk governor Kouch Chamroeun is new governor for Kandal as he replaced Kong Sophorn. Chamroeun is replaced by Mang Sineth, the deputy governor.



Phea, Sophorn, Rathanak and Sam Eang were appointed as secretaries of state at the Ministry of Interior.
