PHNOM PENH – The Cambodian Cycling Federation (CCF) will organize a cycling event from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap on June 1, International Children’s Day.

CCF secretary-general Nou Chamroeun said the goal was to raise funds to help the Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap and inspire more cycling to the tourism hotspot province.

The 310km event is a first for the CCF.

Chamroeun said the federation would maintain safety and protection for participants.

Ambulances would be on standby and cars with sirens would pave the way for those taking part.

“In addition, we have a motorcycle team to support traffic flow and assist cyclists while providing water, drinks and snacks,” he said.

CCF said participants could use any bike, regardless of price or quality. The one-day ride will leave the capital at 4.30am and is due to arrive at Angkor Hospital for Children at 7.30pm.
