PHNOM PENH — The “Cambodia: My Homeland,” or cmhl.gov.kh, has been launched as a platform to identify the geographical location of plots of land in the country.
Managed by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the platform will enable relevant ministries and institutions to use it and insert information based on their sectors.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on Dec. 1, the information at cmhl.gov.kh can be used for analysis and studies on socio-economic development planning.
“In the telecommunication sector, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications can insert the data of terminal antennas into the platform,” the press release read. “[T]hen we’ll know the number and locations of antennas in communes or districts in each province.”
Technical working groups of both ministries are also putting the standard QR code on the certificates of real estate ownership to verify the information through the Verify.gov.kh platform so that plots of land can be identified on the online map, the press release read.
The two ministries hope that the platform will help individuals and businesses get valid information regarding the geography of plots of lands in an efficient way, the press release read. The Verify.com.kh platform will make it easier for people to check the validity of ownership documents and identify fake ones, the goal being to provide reliable information and save people time and money, the press release stated.
The “Cambodia: My Homeland” site uses QR codes linked to blockchain technology, which provides high security for each document, the press release read. Since it will be on the platform, paper copies will only need the standard QR code to be recognized as valid.
Setting up the platform was a priority action in line with the Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035 of the government’s Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1, the press release read.
Thus far, there are around 30 ministries and higher-education institutions that have set up platforms as part of this strategy, the text read.
