Get Ready for Dry Season Heat: Forecasters

PHNOM PENH – The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has urged the public to conserve water and prepare for natural phenomena after forecasting the weather for the dry season starting from December to early May.



From February, temperatures will gradually rise and get hotter in April to early May, with a maximum average temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature on some days up to 41 degrees.



From December to January, minimum temperatures are expected to drop to 16-18 degrees on some days in the northern provinces near the Dangrek Mountains and the northeastern plateau.



Minimum temperatures will hover around 19-22 degrees in other provinces.



According to observations and forecasts of evolving temperatures in the Pacific Ocean near the equator, there will be 100% of El Nino phenomenon until January.



In February, there will be 90% of El Nino and 10% of Enso phenomenon. In March, El Nino is expected to be 70%  and 30% of the Enso phenomenon. In April, there will be 50% of El Niño and 50% of Enzo.



There will be less rainfall yet more thunder, lightning and gusts compared to 2023. Thunder, lightning and strong winds are expected in April and May.
