PHNOM PENH – Japan will send 40 referees to help Cambodia’s preparations for the 32nd SEA Games next month.

Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn spoke of the help on April 10 at a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Ueno Atsushi.

“I trust that this assistance will contribute to this historical sport event’s success, like Japan’s determination did to Cambodia during the ASEAN 2022 Chairmanship,” Sokhonn said.

The Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee says 12,404 delegates comprising officials, competitors and coaches from 11 countries will take part in the Games.

Thailand will send the most delegates with 1,985, followed by Indonesia with 1,802 while Cambodia will have 1,158.

About 8,000 athletes will compete in 36 sports in 584 disciplines. Teqball which consists of only five disciplines will be included as an exhibition sport.
