PHNOM PENH – A Cambodian company has won a prestigious award from the Indonesian government for sustainable imports and promotion of trade between the countries.

The Kabbas company is the first local company to receive a Primaduta award. It won first place as Best Performing Importer at the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) Opening Ceremony on Oct. 18.

It was among 23 global companies to win awards. Indonesian Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto presented the award to Kabbas director Bunly Kim on Oct. 31.

“The Primaduta Award is not always about figures and statistics, but also an acknowledgment for the tireless efforts of companies like Kabbas in promoting Indonesian products and making them more widely available in the Cambodian market,” Santo Darmosumarto said.

“We look forward to many more companies like Kabbas among the business community here."

In 2009, Kabbas started working with exporters from Indonesia.  During the last five years, it has been successful in boosting the import of Indonesian goods such as drinks, snacks, and paper goods for Cambodians.

In 2022, Indonesia-Cambodia trade reached $948 million, with Indonesia exporting $911 million and Cambodia exporting $37 million.
