PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s Burn x Flash (BXF) was defeated by the Philippines’ Blacklist International (BLCK) 3-1 on June 17 in the semi-finals of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2023 (MSC 2023).

The BLCK won in the first match with 18 kills while the BXF got 12 kills. Toward the end of the game, BXF nearly got the chance to destroy the BLCK’s Base Turret, advancing through the mid-lane.

However, the BLCK team made a comeback with the second Lord at the 18th minute through the Experience Lane, and eventually destroyed the BXF’s Base Turret after the BXF players had been wiped out with C Cat, the Mid Laner, being the last kill.

The Cambodian team became hopeful as the team finally caught up with the BLCK team by winning the second match in 22 minutes. The tension rose when both teams fought over the fourth Lord, splitting the BLCK team then down from five to four members into two groups.

With all its five members proceeding through the mid lane, in the end the BXF team killed off BLCK’s two remaining players, destroying the Base Turret.

And yet, the BLCK team won in the third and fourth matches in 17 and 15 minutes respectively, wiping out the BXF’s turrets and pushing forward directly to the Base Turret through the mid lane, leaving no chance for BXF to destroy any of the team’s turrets.

During the press conference after the tournament, BXF’s team Manager Te Tek Heng, known as Lee Xin, said that there had been errors and miscommunication among the team members in the last two matches, which had led to defeat.

Also, the BLCK team was putting a lot of pressure on the BXF team, the manager said, referring to how BLCK was controlling the map throughout the third and fourth matches.

In spite of this, Tek Heng stressed that the team is well prepared for the next competition through which the team intends to get in third place.

The second team for the finals was decided on June 17 during the match that opposed ECHO and ONIC teams.

MSC 2023 will conclude on June 18 with BLCK facing Índonesia’s ONIC at 6 pm in Phnom Penh.
