Test Your Khmer Skills and Promote the Language

With over 800 registered participants, Samne Angkor, or Angkor Writing, is a competition open to Cambodians and foreigners who want to test their Khmer language skills.



The competition is the first of its kind. It welcomes all ages and aims to promote the love of our Khmer language and promote its correct use as well as boosting domestic tourism in Siem Reap province.



The first prize is a room with two beds for three nights in a five-star hotel plus 1,200,000 riel (about $300).



Second prize is a room with two beds for three nights in a four-star hotel plus 800,000 riel (about $200).



Third prize is a room with two beds for three nights in a three-star hotel plus 400,000 riel (about $100).



All participants will be offered supplementary gifts such as T-shirts and books.



Participants only need a blue ink pen at the dictation site. Cambodian citizens need to present their national identity card to register while foreigners need to present passports.



Supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, the competition will be conducted on the ancient causeway bridge of Angkor Wat on January 21 at 7am. The result will be announced at around 4pm on the same day.
