The 8th Khmer Empire Marathon to Boost Siem Reap Tourism

PHNOM PENH – The Ministry of Tourism and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia are hosting a marathon in front of Angkor Wat on August 6 to promote the recovery of tourism in Siem Reap after COVID-19.



The event aims also to promote health, friendship peace and Cambodian prestige on the international stage.



The 8th Khmer Empire Marathon will include runs of 42, 21, 10 and 3km.



Marathon manager Sem Phalla said the event would help the city’s tourism sector to recover and would spread a message to foreign tourists to learn about Cambodia as it recovers from the impact of COVID-19.



He expects 2-3,000 people to take part. In the 7th Khmer Empire Marathon, 2100 people participated.
