PHNOM PENH — Twenty-two films from 23 European countries are being presented during the 15th European Film Festival Cambodia (EUFF 2024) taking place in Phnom Penh.

Sponsored by the European Union Delegation to Cambodia, the EUFF 2024 includes films in five categories ranging from dramas and comedies, to documentaries, fictions and animation. The event, which was first held in 2003, is an opportunity to celebrate cultural exchange and the film industry beyond borders.

According to the delegation’s press information, the films were selected to appeal to audiences of all ages in Cambodia. They will be shown with English audio and subtitles while some of them will be presented with Khmer subtitles.

Through the cooperation of cinema centers, the films will be shown from Feb. 23 until Mar. 3 at five venues.

These include the French Institute, Bophana Centre, Meta House, Coconut Park on Diamond Island (Koh Pich), and the Legend Cinema at Noro Mall.

During the special events, there will be online question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers.

People will also have the opportunity to join an online masterclass on creative writing and low-budget filmmaking strategies. The class will be held at the Bophana center on Feb. 29.

All film screenings are held free of charge, but prior registration is required to book seats whose numbers are limited, according to the EUFF 2024 press release.
