PHNOM PENH  – Fishing boat crews and travelers in Sihanoukville province have been allowed back to sea again after a ban due to five days of poor weather.

Provincial Governor Kouch Chamroeun said he allowed boat travel with caution after considering the needs of citizens and the better weather.

“I decided to allow travel to the various islands by boats that are safe and equipped with life jackets under the supervision of the professional officer to prevent any risk,” he said.

The fishermen are also permitted to conduct their business, but only for a limited time. They can leave in the morning and return in the evening or leave in the evening and return at night.

The Kingdom had been affected by a typhoon which hit the Philippines from July 16 to 20. It brewed over the South China Sea before moving on to northern Vietnam.

Chamroeun ordered all boats, including tour boats, taxi boats and fishing boats to stay ashore during the typhoon.

The Kingdom continues to be affected by Typhoon Talim and the Southwest Monsoon. A low-pressure area in the eastern Pacific Ocean could become a new typhoon as it enters the northern Philippines.

This would result in moderate to heavy rain mixed with thunder and gusts of wind. Strong winds and high waves will hit seas in the coastal province.

The lowlands and highlands are experiencing light to moderate rail, along with thunder and gusts of wind.
